TWO BY SUE

Reading Community Players presents “TWO BY SUE,” a workshop production of PURGATORY and BLONDE BOMBSHELL, authored by Reading area playwright, Susan E. Sneeringer, September 25-27 and October 2-4, 2009 at the company’s 11th & Buttonwood Streets theatre.

PURGATORY is the story of Peg Murray and her relationship with her father, Jim, and the Catholic Church. A move across country to attend graduate school also brings Peg to an acceptance of her attraction to women and reconcile that with her spiritual beliefs.
PURGATORY contains brief nudity and is recommended for mature audiences.

BLONDE BOMBSHELL is a multi-generation tale which reveals family secrets uncovered in the wake of the death of once-blacklisted MGM contract player, Lois McGinty. As her daughter, Emma and granddaughter, Shannon sort through Lois’ remains, the full impact of the McCarthy-era witchhunts comes into view.

For more information for this and all shows in RCP’s 2009 season visit the theatre’s website at www.rcptheatre.org. To order tickets visit www.brownpapertickets.com or call the theatre box office at (610) 375-9106.

Reading City Council Meeting

The Reading City council is currently considering a change to the existing Human Relations Commission Ordinance which would make it illegal to discriminate against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in the city of Reading.

Reading is the only city in Pennsylvania of the sixteen cities, counties and municipalities that have non-discrimination ordinances in place that does not include these catagories in its existing legislation.

We urge you to attend this important meeting to show the city council that this change is long overdue and that we expect them to stop wasting time and pass this important amendment to our existing law.
